Shore Medical Center is a full-service acute care community hospital located in Somers Point, New Jersey, serving Atlantic and Cape May counties. They provide health services for Cancer, Spine & Orthopedic, Emergency, Maternity, Pediatrics and Neurology.
SMC opened a +/- 6,800 SF Pediatric Hybrid Unit, first of its kind in the State of New Jersey. Our scope included Architectural, Interior Design, and Engineering services for the Planning, Programming, Regulatory Approval Assistance (NJDHOSS and NJDCA Healthcare Plan Review), Design, Construction Documentation, and Construction Administration Services.
R2A & R2I collaborated closely with regulators from the State of New Jersey well as all of the stakeholders from SMC to develop a space plan for a Pediatric Emergency Department unit which was merged with a Pediatric In-Patient unit within the same space.
The unit’s program consisted of a Pediatric Emergency Department with Five (5) Patient Bays and Pediatric In-Patient area with up to Seven (7) Patient Beds in Five Patient Rooms. Private and Semi – Private room configurations were accomplished within the same footprint. The project’s exciting colors were complimented with in-direct lighting and color LED accent lighting. A large full function multi-display video wall was fitted in the playroom with a state of the art sound system.
