R2A & R2I are in our 17th consecutive year as Rutgers University On-Call Architectural + Interior Designer for all three campuses: New Brunswick, Newark Camden. We have extensive experience designing buildings for teaching, research, academic support activities including Student Centers and Sporting facilities, and have completed more than 60 academic projects in the last 17 years. Our team offers unparalleled expertise and vision regarding the key management considerations which need to be carefully reviewed and integrated into the design process.
Rutgers University Student Life Division and Rutgers Dining Services retained R2A for various projects to update the following Rutgers Student Centers:
- Douglass Campus Student Center
- Livingston Campus Student Center
- Busch Livingston Campus Student Center
- College Ave Campus Student Center
- Camden Campus Student Center
Student Centers are a center piece often positioned in strategic welcoming locations on a college’s campus to serve as the community center of the college, serving students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. A student center is home to a variety of programs, activities, and services. They contain lounges, wellness centers, dining facilities, vendors, and entertainment venues. The student center is often the hub of student government and student affairs/groups. It may also act as a conference center featuring a large assembly space with smaller break out conferencing spaces and meeting rooms used primarily for student groups and local organizations holding conferences or competitions. Student Centers are often revenue generators for the college by way of renting spaces to entities for trade shows, meetings, visiting lectures, etc.
